Wednesday Fave Apps: May 2

Today’s favorite apps will have you and your students reading, writing, singing, and creating!

Nighty Night is an interactive bedtime story app to use with children. The adorable illustrations and narrations make this a great one to have when you need just one more story before bed. Nighty Night Bedtime Book

I loved watching the Electric Company when I was a kid. Now there is a hip new app for the favorite children’s show. The best part is the app is FREE.

Need a quick card or invitation, but no time to run to Hallmark? Use My Stationery Box to create your very own cards and other printed materials. Be aware some features have extra costs, but this is a convenient way to send a special hello to someone. Might be great for your class for Mother’s Day.

Planning your end of the year class party? Karaoke is always a fun way to make students laugh. Use this free app to sing the hits from Glee.

Teach some science and math while getting students excited about summer. Use the free iRoller Coaster app to have students create their own rollercoasters and then replay the ride!iRoller Coaster

#personlizedlearning starts with voice and choice. A PBL is a great start. To get started, consider @drlorielliott book #pblanywhere that lays out how to go from standards to a PBL.

Excited to share my new PBL online course with you! Thanks @dbc_inc for this opportunity!

Our community unit came to life! We brainstormed wants & needs, planned, & created a community we would like to live in. This year we decided to take our plans to City Hall to share with the people in charge! @isd544otters @teacher2teacher @drlorielliott @DitchThatTxtbk

A short and sweet sesh on #PBL by @drlorielliott hosted by @dbc_inc with @burgessdave and @TaraMartinEDU It's validating to hear that so many others are taking #PBL and #inquiry and running with it!

“It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless.”
