Mapping out my sessions for SDE National Conferences in Las Vegas next week! |
I feel a little bit in a frenzy this week getting ready for the upcoming SDE national conferences. I have so many new and fun things to share. I am trying not to forget any of them as I prepare for the sessions.
Blog Lovin: I spend a lot of time reading and researching new ideas. Blogs are one of the best ways I can quickly get new information. However, jumping from one blog to the next can become tiresome, so I used Google Reader in the past to help me manage all my blog reading, but sadly they are no more. Thank goodness Blog Lovin has come to the rescue! Look for blogs with a Blog Lovin icon and click to follow those folks. Then check your Blog Lovin online account or app on your mobile device to read all your favorite blogs in one place. Whew! What a relief. Notice I have the Blog Lovin icon on the right hand side of the page if you want to follow Lori’s Latest Links!
Accidental Techie on Instagram: A few weeks ago I shared with you that I would love for you to follow me and I would follow you on Instagram! Teachers sharing ideas through pictures. What’s not to love! Well, today as I was planning some lessons I noticed that I was constantly going back to my own personal Instagram account to find unique or really engaging pictures to use as examples. Then I was hit with “another one of my brilliant ideas,” as Blaire from Facts of Life would say. (This reference shows my age.) I decided not only will I be posting pictures of teaching ideas, places I travel, and folks I meet… but I will try to post pictures that you can use in your instruction to get students writing, brainstorming, predicting, inferring, calculating, etc. I share so often about the importance of visuals so here are some you can have at your fingertips to use. Just show from your iPad or computer or screenshot and share! Ohhh I am so excited about this new plan. The real deal is my kids both take amazing pictures that I can use also and since they are constantly in cool places like I am it will be fabulous! I am starting today! If you follow my Instagram account you will see some awesome pics from Uganda and other locales.
Seems like we need a name for this project, so the hashtag for now will be #lorisinstalearning. So, be watching for lots of #lorisinstalearning pics in the upcoming weeks!
